Organic X Monitor HC

Continuous detection of volatile organic compounds

Environmental pollution with volatile organic compounds (VOC, POC) must be avoided and contaminated sites have to be cleaned up. This makes a robust, reliable and sensitive monitor to detect this compounds most desirable.
On application of the Organic X Monitor HC numerous organic compounds can be easily detected as summary parameter:

· Halogenated Hydrocarbons like CFC, Vinyl Chloride, Chlorobenzene etc.
· BTEX
· Fuels
· Styrene
· Naphthalene
· Alcohols
· Many others

The Organic X Monitor HC developed and patented by Degussa-Hüls AG meets all requirements of a successful continuous monitoring device:

· High Sensitivity
· Short Response Time
· Easy to Handle
· Robustness
· Low Maintenance

Operational Principle

Volatile organic compounds are stripped off the liquid matrix by a stream of clean gas and their inorganic products are detected by measuring the conductivity after UV-oxidation.

Fields of Application

The Organic X Monitor HC can be applied for the detection of volatile organic compounds in a wide range of applications like:

· Potable Water Production
· Wastewater Monitoring
· Cooling Water Monitoring
· Discharge Monitoring
· Soil- and Groundwater Remediation
· Carbon Break-through

It should be emphasized that even in highly contaminated waste water in most cases no sample pretreatment is necessary.

High Sensitivity

The Organic X Monitor HC is equipped with high sensititve conductivity cells. Variations in temperature are compensated by a polynome based temperature compensation. This results in a lower detection limit of less than 0.5ppb! Dependend on the parameter setting analytes can be measured in a wide range.

Low Maintenance

Less than 20h annually are required for maintenance. The availability is almost 99.8%! Thanks to the modular design maintenance is as easy as anything and can be performed by the user. Each component is readily accessible and in most cases no tools are required for replacements. In order to maximize safety the electronic compartment is separated from the wet-chemistry part of the monitor.

Robustness

All components are chosen for a maximum of robustness to withstand harsh environmental conditions typical for process applications.

Modular Design

The rack mount modular design makes it very easy to customize the monitor to special monitoring tasks. Also other moduls like process PC´s, chart and paperless recorders can be incorporated.
